In conjunction with French companies Setec and ARIA, our company was selected to review the designs seeking to increase climate resilience and develop risk management capabilities for the project to improve the Mitre Line of the metropolitan railway system in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires. Aires (AMBA). In addition, the project plans to support the development of capacities in disaster risk management in the suburban railway system for the Administración de Infraestructuras Ferroviarias S.E. (ADIF) and the Operadora Ferroviaria Sociedad del Estado (SOFSE) of Argentina.
In order to evaluate those designs, AC&A analyzed the data, studies and definitions on the projects for the Mitre Line, and proposed different actions to increase the assets’ resilience to natural hazards. In addition, the task included the identification of the most cost-effective measures for resilience to climate change, ensuring compliance with design standards in Argentina and based on best practices.
The analysis is in its final stage, which will include different activities aimed at supporting ADIF and SOFSE to strengthen institutional capacity in terms of disaster risk management and in a contingency plan for the operation and maintenance of the line.
This work is carried out by our firm’s Study and Planning team headed by the director of railways, Juan Pablo Martínez, with the collaboration of specialists in tracks and electrical systems, and together with Setec, who contribute their experience in railway matters , and with ARIA Technologies, who made an important contribution at the environmental level.
It should be noted that the group led by AC&A was selected by the World Bank, which is financing the Mitre Passenger Railway Line Modernization project in Buenos Aires.
Due to the relevance and timeliness of the project, this is a new and significant challenge that endorses our more than two decades of professional career, experience and commitment. We are people innovating for people.
